MESSAGE FROM CHAIR
The Institute of Medical Education was initially established as a Department of Medical Education in 2017 and has grown impressively in numbers and in quality. It was given the status of an institute in Jan 2019 and has in this relatively short period brought significant improvements in the quality of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. It also offers much sought after certification, diploma and master programs in health profession education with expert national faculty. Currently we have 2 batches of CHPE courses running parallel to 3 MHPE batches.
For improving the quality of undergraduate education, IME works together with JSMU constituent institutions, affiliated colleges and the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC). It has worked with relevant programs to develop policies for postgraduate education and assisted in streamlining the processes. During the 2020 Covid crisis IME took lead and introduced online programs for capacity building of the faculty.
Recently IME has established a Centre of Patient Safety (CoPS) and a Center of Healthcare Leadership (CoHL) in collaboration with Riphah Institute of Healthcare Improvement and Safety and the Institute of Leadership Excellence respectively. We are excited at the potential that these centers will provide to improve service, education and research.
