Workshop Title: Potential of Healthcare Analytics in Pakistan: A Practical (Hands-on) Perspective

Workshop Objective: The objective of the workshop is to practically demonstrate the core dimensions of Healthcare Analytics to workshop attendees.

Workshop Outline: The purpose of the workshop will be to present an overview of Healthcare Analytics and to introduce the core data science skills relevant to medical students, practitioners, and consultants.

Content:

• Definition of Healthcare Analytics;
• Evolution of Healthcare Analytics;
• The Healthcare Analytics Technology Stack;
• Types of Data Science / Machine Learning (classification, regression, time series forecasting) with examples;
• Successful Applications and Case Studies;
• Open source Tools for Healthcare Analytics: Python’s Scikit-Learn In addition to the above content, a general overview of the Hands-on Content will also be covered in the workshop. Details of which are hereunder:
• Setting the Anaconda Environment for Python programming in Jupyter Lab
• Data Cleaning and Exploratory Data Analysis using real-life datasets - Numerical column analysis through boxplots and histograms, correlation analyses through heatmaps and scatterplots, String column analyses through bar charts, data transformations, feature selection dealing with incorrect clinical data.
• Clinical Predictive Analytics with Classification using real-life datasets – Predicting Adverse Drug Reaction for a given Patient
• Clinical Predictive Analytics with Regression using real-life datasets – Predicting Patient Mortality
• Clinical Predictive Analytics with Time Series Forecasting using real-life datasets – Forecasting Hospital Admissions

Target Audience: This workshop is targeted specifically towards medical students, practitioners, and consultants. No previous knowledge of Computer Science or Data Analytics / Data Science is required. Programming experience is also not required. However, the participants must have the drive to learn and implement Healthcare Analytics in their clinical processes.
