Why Nursing
The health care industry has continued to change significantly over the past few years, transforming the role of nurses is increasing the opportunities for those who graduate from nursing colleges. Expanding technological advances also require more highly skilled personnel and understand the technology used to manage the information will be essential to their ability to track and assess care and to meet the national and international health care standards. The ultimate job of nurses will be making sure that the right person is providing the right care at the right cost.
Currently there is a grave shortage of nurses in Pakistan and there is immense need to produce more and more highly educated, a well-prepared nurse from nursing colleges at the baccalaureate and graduate level who will cater the real need of highly populated country with an increasing number of hospitalized patients with acute and chronic illness, high maternal and child morbidity and mortality rate, growing elderly population with multiple chronic health problems.
The Nursing College is now pursuing a program of Bachelors of Science in Nursing and MScN in Nursing Education whitens the JSMU campus and clinical opportunity in the four medical institutions: JPMC, NICVD, NICH and Sindh Government Hospital, korangi Karachi.
The Nursing Core Competencies emanate from the foundation of nursing knowledge. The competencies, which will inform future nursing practice and curricula, consist of the following:
