Sindh Medical College (SMC)

Welcome to the Professional Development Centre (PDC), Jinnah Sindh Medical University, Karachi. The PDC is located on the 3rd floor of the Library building, Jinnah Sindh Medical University. This Centre runs training programs with learning opportunities, guidance, and resources, for the undergraduate and postgraduate medical students and the faculty to learn, practice and master basic and complex clinical skills, both independently as well as under supervision of trained and qualified teaching faculty. The models and manikins available in the Centre have been procured to support clinical and procedural skills that are essential for a safe and efficient physician.
At PDC, we provide realistic practice opportunities in a simulated environment where it is safe to make mistakes and learn from them before working independently with real patients. The learning activities are designed in such a way that the learner can repeatedly practice clinical and procedural skills with increasing dexterity until a competency is reached to perform the same skills on real patients, safely and efficiently. This adds value to our students, ensuring that the graduates produced at the end of the program are knowledgeable, competent and with a high employability potential.
